Decor That Will Make Your Office Feel Like Home

When you’re at home, you probably like to feel comforted by your warm walls, nice-to-the-touch floors, and comfortable furniture. People decorate their homes based on their personalities, but they don’t always think to do so at the office. Transform your office from boring to homey with these tips.

Do Your Walls at the Office Like You Would Do Your Walls at Home

You may not be able to paint your walls your favorite hue of red at work, but there are definitely things you can do to make it resemble home a bit more. Hang a few pictures or pieces of artwork. Put some curtains over the windows. Add as much color to the walls as you can. Color affects our mood, so don’t let yours be the same dull gray as your office walls.

Think About What Your Feet Feel at Home

At home, you might walk around barefoot all the time because you have the nice piece of carpet that you picked out just for your living room. You may not be able to rip the carpet out in your office, but you can certainly bring a cozy rug for your feet. Kick off your heels and give your feet a break with something that looks and feels good on your toes.

Flowers and Plants

Bring part of your home garden to work. The extra life in the office will make you feel better, and you’ll be sure to get lots of compliments from your coworkers, too!

Accessorize

Just like you need some color on your walls, you need some color on your furniture. If you’re lucky enough to have a comfy chair or couch in the office, make sure to bring a few colorful throw pillows and throw blanket to go along with it. If you have any tables, bring in colorful or artsy center pieces to match. Everyone needs storage containers, so instead of buying generic gray ones, buy some that match your color scheme.

Think About Lighting

Lighting is crucial to designing your décor. If you’re lucky enough to have a window in your office, use it to your advantage to really bring light into the room. If you don’t have a window, bring a few lamps to brighten up the dark office. Lamps can also help add color to the room.

Hide the Ugly Office Stuff with Beautiful Office Furniture

In an office space, you’re bound to have papers, documents, and books in the room. But stacks of papers all over your desk are the last thing you want in your home. Use your furniture to your advantage to hide and organize the mess. When it doubt, get it off the desk and into cabinets. If you can choose or bring in office cabinets, make sure to find beautiful pieces that you’d find in your home.
