Jobs You Can Get with a Degree in Entrepreneurship

Getting a degree in entrepreneurship doesn’t automatically mean you have to start your own business. Being a CEO of a company is an opportunity, but there are plenty of other relevant jobs you can land with this degree.

Management

Let’s talk about what it takes to be a manager. You need to be able to run the business efficiently and keep your employees happy while producing a product or service. This probably sounds a lot like what you learn as an entrepreneur, but without having to gain funding or running the company at the C-Suite level. The C-Suite comes up with the ideas, and as a manager, it’s your job to see that the ideas go according to plan. The salary for a business operations manager is around $97,270.

Business Consultant

Business consultants are used to help a company improve efficiency and performance. All the knowledge and information you’ve gathered through studying entrepreneurship can be used to help other businesses increase production. Sometimes business consultants are used to reduce staffing, but they are also used to create new business plans, provide objectivity, identify problems, and provide expertise on particular markets. The average salary for a business consultant is $68,982.

Research and Development

Research and development is where the ideas go first before they make their way to the company business model. This is the stage where companies investigate activities or products to see if they can improve any existing stock or procedures. This can lead to an increase in profit and can be practiced in any field. As an entrepreneur, you’ll have a lot of experience in how to research and develop ideas to work when they’re adapted into the company. The average salary in research and development has a national average of $79,248.

Professor

Chances are, someone encouraged you to get into the world of business. Students going into an MBA program in entrepreneurship are told to pick a mentor that can teach them everything they know. As a professor, you have the chance to be that mentor for someone else. You can teach them everything you’ve learned and encourage them to start their own companies. Many of the highest paid professors have gotten their MBA and moved onto teaching. The salary depends on the school you teach at, but the average wage of a business professor is $91,078.

Business Reporter

There is a specific niche for business journalists who write for huge websites that change on a daily basis—like CNN Money and Reuters. These are individuals who know business and have a grasp of grammar. As an entrepreneurial student, you are in the perfect position to write about topics you’ve spent years of your life learning. You can cover local issues or write for large reporting agencies across the United States. The average salary for a business reporter isn’t the highest on the list at $32,732. (As a business reporter or writer, your salary varies greatly depending on the company for which you work.)
