Work Christmas Party Do’s And Don’ts

Are you on the party planning committee at your office? If you are trying to plan this year’s Christmas bash, you may need to brush up on some of the office party do’s and don’ts before you plan your party. Here are some tips for throwing an appropriate yet fun office Christmas party.

Do: Use An Artificial Tree

If you’re supposed to decorate for the party, you should definitely choose an artificial tree over a real Christmas tree. A real tree needs care, and once your office closes for the holidays, nobody will be there to take care of the tree. You’ll all come back to a giant mess of pine needles. Instead, go out and buy the best artificial Christmas tree that can be reused for each office party year after year.

Don’t: Go Wild and Crazy

If your office party is family-oriented, make sure you include fun, kid craft ideas for Christmas and lots of family-oriented activities. You can do a Christmas photo prop booth for families to take holiday photos inside, or for your business Christmas cards. Keep everything tame and family-friendly so each person can have a good time, without making anyone embarrassed to show their face at work the next week.

Do: Plan Games For The Kids

Christmas kids’ games can be fun for the entire office! Go ahead and plan ahead so that the children at your office party will be entertained and on their best behavior. You can plan games that are fun for the whole office, like pin the nose on Rudolph, or do a special visit from Santa to pass out gifts to all the children. You can also plan ahead for some adult Christmas games and do a Dirty Santa gift giving that will be fun for everyone involved.

Don’t: Skimp On The Decorations

A Christmas party without decorations is just a regular party. If you have a party budget, make sure to use it to decorate the office with festive colors and party decorations. The office is normally not a very exciting place, so try to really spread the Christmas cheer by keeping your decorations merry and bright with some LED Christmas lights.

Do: Order Enough Food

If you plan on throwing a great party, make sure there is enough food for everyone involved. Nothing ruins an office party faster than running out of Christmas snacks! Make sure you have something for everyone, such as vegetarian and diet options. Everyone should get to feel included and welcome in order to enjoy the Christmas party.
