How to Track Productivity

Computers, tablets, and smartphones have become commonplace. Without them, a great deal of business conducted these days would be made impossible. This is due in large part to productivity software: programs or apps that facilitate the production of documents, presentations, or visual information like charts and graphs. Applications that help individuals or businesses track productivity are also useful.

Productivity Software

Productivity software like Microsoft’s Office Suite is standard in most workplaces and offices. With it, users can easily turn information into readable, professional documents or presentations. Using minimal effort, they can create infographics and slideshows that, without the programs, would be next to impossible. This is how productivity software earns its name: by allowing users to produce works they otherwise could not.

Today, mobile or tablet apps can allow for the same sort of work to be done. Often times, apps will allow you to work from your phone or your computer and share work between the two. One such application is Google Docs, in which documents can be shared, opened, and edited from anywhere. The changes are live, so others viewing it can see updates as they are made.

Productivity Applications

Chrometa
Applications that track productivity can do a variety of things to help with improving and understanding the efficiency of your work. Chrometa, for example, is an app that records data usage, time spent drafting or creating spreadsheets, minutes wasted on Facebook, how long you spent writing an email, and other information relevant to your productivity. When you leave the computer, you’ll be prompted to log the time you spent away, so once the work is done, the program can compile charts and logs of your efficiency.

Freckle
Similarly, a program called Freckle tracks the time spent running each program on your device. Even without a connection, it will track your usage and sync it with the cloud once you return to an area with available internet. If you plan to bill someone for the work you’ve done, this program will allow you to create and send invoices and even link your PayPal.

Office Time
Office Time is yet another app for measuring productivity. It allows you to track the progress of your team, how they spent their time working, and how your expenses are aligning with your budget. It also allows for the sending of invoices and even provides customizable templates for users.

If you’re interested in tracking your productivity, your team’s productivity, or your employees’ productivity, these programs may be for you. Tracking productivity is the first step to improving it!
